Botswana, Selinda Game Reserve,  straddling the Selinda Spillway linking the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti Swamps in northern Botswana.  The endangered African wild dog, also called Cape hunting dog or painted dog, typically roams the open plains and sparse woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa.  These 4 dogs had been napping under a shady tree and jumped at a startling sound. African painted dogs are very social, live in packs of 20 or more, and can communicate by touch, actions, and vocalizations.
